Have you ever thought that you could own the James Bond watch worn by Daniel Craig in “No Time To Die”?
Christie’s has recently announced an important thematic auction dedicated to the most important secret agent ever, where his personal Omega Seamaster 300M and numerous collector’s items will be on sale.
The proceeds from each lot will be donated to 45 charities.
The auction for the 60th anniversary of James Bond
We told it on Instagram and in our magazine: the story of James Bond and his bond with Omega is among the strongest.
In the “Sixty Years Of James Bond” auction there will be really spoiled for choice in the 60 lots on sale. The sale is monothematic, but it offers different types of enthusiasts to be able to acquire unique collectible pieces, from suitcases, to clothes or cars, up to our beloved watches.
If you read IWS exclusively for watches then you will need to focus on the auction on September 28th, as opposed to the one on September 15th-October 5th, as they will only be sold on this occasion.
In the Live Auction on September 28th, the last 6 lots will be dedicated to each of the actors who played over the years 007: Sir Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Sir Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.
In addition to the Seamaster 300M in titanium, the Aqua Terra 150M worn by Craig also in “No Time To Die” will also be up for auction, in addition to a box set with two limited editions for the 50th anniversary of the film “On Her Secret Service. Majesty”.
Over the years several special editions have been dedicated to him, which we had the pleasure of telling you some time ago in this article.
Our favorite lots
That said, these are some of our favorite lots from this auction at 007.
Lot 3 – The James Bond watch worn by Daniel Craig: the Omega Seamaster 300M in titanium
A more unique than rare opportunity. Being able to own the watch worn by Daniel Craig can be compared to owning the Heuer Monaco worn by Steve McQueen and sold for around $ 2 million a few years ago.
The Seamaster 300M James Bond is a limited edition created by Omega, which sports a Milanese mesh bracelet in titanium and a case in the same metal. The feel on the wrist is of a massive watch, truly created for military use, not simply for beauty.
On the back we find the classic assignment number dedicated to military watches. Omega, as you may know, has had an important relationship in the past with the Royal Navy.
It can be seen that the watch worn by Craig has been worn quite a lot, but despite this it remains in excellent condition. With IWS we always push people to wear their watches and let them live the story they deserve, rather than leaving them in the crate, without scratches.
On the other hand, whoever manages to win the James Bond Seamaster 300M will take home a watch with the marks, sweat and filming history of the latest movie “No Time To Die”.
Estimate: £15,000 – £20,000
Lot 57 – The limited edition Leica Q2 signed by Daniel Craig
Leica is a name that needs no introduction when it comes to photography, least of all when it comes to Q2. If you are looking at this lot, you surely already know what we are talking about and we will not go into technical details. What makes it special, however, is the signature of Daniel Craig and the fact that it is a limited edition (have you seen the cap with the classic 007 ‘gunbarrel’?).
James Bond’s Leica Q2 is an edition of only 250 units in the world. The lot also features Greg Williams’ book on Daniel Craig as James Bond, from the days of Casino Royale to No Time To Die.
Estimate: £7,000 – £10,000
Lot 7 – The Aston Martin DB5 Stunt Car used in the filming of “No Time To Die” (scratches included)
Aston Martin and James Bond is another duo that needs no introduction, as does the one with Omega. The DB5 in front of you is a stunt car used in the shooting of the last film, the only one of the 8 cars made to be offered for sale by the English house and by EON Productions.
It should therefore not be confused with the 25 replicas put on the market, the DB5 Continuation Goldfinger Edition.
Under the hood runs a modern 3.2 liter inline 6-cylinder petrol engine, combined with a manual gearbox to maximize the performance of this stunt car. The brakes and suspensions were custom made for the film by Aston Martin Special Projects, which allowed those crazy scenes to be shot in the city of Matera.
Christie’s sells this Aston Martin DB5 Stunt Car as a collector’s item, not as a street legal car. On the other hand, it would be better not to be face to face with the new owner, who could use the machine guns under the headlights instead of the horn.
It is also specified that the machine is sold with all the signs and defects reported in the filming of “No Time To Die”.
Estimate: £1,500,000 – £2,000,000
Lot 6 – Tom Ford’s Tuxedo worn by Daniel Craig
Stima: £25,000 – £30,000
Lot 22 – The famous Octopussy by Fabergé
Estimate: £6,000 – £10,000
Lot 60 – The clapperboard used in the shooting of Skyfall
This take was used in the filming of Skyfall and is signed by Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig, Bérénice Marlohe, Naomie Harris and Javier Bardem.
Estimate: £5,000 – £7,000
Lot 34 – The Moonranker poster with Roger Moore
As the last batch we put a Roger Moore poster in the movie “Moonranker” created by Dan Goozee. In this work, Bond wears a spacesuit instead of the classic tuxedo.
In the online auction there are several similar lots that present the possibility of having a memorabilia of 007 with a particularly accessible estimate.
The size of the poster is 104 x 70 cm.
Estimate: £300 – £500
Where and when will Christie’s “Sixty Years Of James Bond” auction be held
The auction has been divided into two separate sales, one of which is online which will be from September 15th to October 5th 2022, and one of presence on September 28th in London. For the online catalog you can find the lots at this link, while for the presence one you can look at them in this other altro.
(NOTE: The attendance auction can still be followed online, all the remote bidding methods are to be consulted on the auction house website).
