On the occasion of the Geneva Watch Days 2022, Bulgari unveils an incredible new example of the iconic Serpenti Seduttori collection. The most desired reptile in the world sheds its skin by playing with a magnetic contrast between precious stones and avant-garde mechanisms, always in the name of brazen and irresistible aesthetics and the continuous challenge to technical records, which has always been in the DNA of the Italian Maison.
The Serpenti Seduttori Tourbillon (Ref. 103465) is dressed in a magnetic combination of the sparkling light of diamonds and the fatal and mysterious shadow of black. A modern, hypnotic and decisive color that, as Matisse said, sums up and consumes all the others.
This sensual symphony of colors is then further enriched by the presence, as the name suggests, of a sophisticated and subtle mechanical tourbillon movement, the highest expression of Bulgari’s manufacturing technique.
Once again, Bulgari embodies in an extraordinary and contemporary way the encounter between High Jewelery and Haute Horlogerie with a timeless model, thanks to which measuring time is just an excuse to show off a creation of extraordinary character.
The Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori Tourbillon in detail
It is difficult not to get excited in front of the Serpenti Seduttori Tourbillon. On the one hand, in fact, one gets the impression of being in front of a work of art, due to the sparkling aesthetic beauty created by the contrast of the hypnotic design of round brilliant diamonds and baguette-cut black spinels; on the other hand, there is the awareness of observing a prodigy of ingenious watchmaking technique and manufacture, thanks to the refined mechanical movement with tourbillon.
The charm of the mechanism and the alternation of gems, of contrasting color and finish, make this watch an unparalleled work of art.
With this model, Bulgari revisits the Serpenti, a legendary and by now timeless watch, since the 1940s, which changes its skin and takes on a new, modern and precious look.
We naturally find the unmistakable signs of the iconic Serpenti Seducers, mythological symbol of sin, mystery and sensuality: the drop-shaped case, which reproduces the magnetic head of the animal, the sinuous spiral bracelet, which wraps in its luxurious and irresistible coils the ( lucky) wrist of those who have the privilege of wearing it.In this version, however, the classic elements of the Serpenti are elevated to the epitome of luxury, creating an extraordinary visual impact.
The “soft” drop-shaped case in white gold – 34 mm and 8.90 mm thick – is entirely studded with diamonds, whose luster is emphasized by the bezel embellished with black spinels: a fatal and magnetic contrast between lights and shadows, with magnificent glamour.
The dial is also paved with brilliant-cut diamonds (~ 0.5 ct). The hours are indicated by baton indexes which are also black, with the exception of 12 o’clock, marked in Roman numerals that stand out above the logo of the Maison. The winding crown is in white gold, set with a cabochon-cut black spinel.
The white gold bracelet is sinuous, flexible and incredibly comfortable, with a hexagonal scale mesh that alternates brilliant-cut diamonds with baguette-cut black spinels, a worthy expression of Bulgari’s unique savoir faire. An experiment of exemplary and daring encounter between High Jewelery and Haute Horlogerie, in which the mad rush of time finds complicity in the immortal nature of precious stones. Water resistance is guaranteed up to 30 meters.
The surprising aesthetic, however, is not the only distinctive element of the Serpenti Seduttori Tourbillon.
This timepiece is in fact made unique by the mechanical tourbillon movement that pulses inside, visible at 6 o’clock. A miniature studied in detail to find a place inside such a compact and particular timepiece. Even with this model, therefore, Bulgari continues in the wake of the successes achieved in the field of ultra-thin watches (most recently with the Octo Finissimo Ultra and its incredible 1.8 mm thickness).
In fact, the Serpenti Seduttori Tourbillon features a miniature movement only 3.65 mm thick: the BVL150 caliber, a mechanical manufacture movement with automatic winding, tourbillon, hours and minutes indicator, with 40 hours of power reserve. With dimensions of 22 mm x 18 mm, thickness of 3.65 mm, composed of 23 rubies, it is a real miniature jewel, with very high technical performance.
This movement was custom-made to the millimeter to fit the iconic reptile-head case: a challenge, considering that the small size of the snake-shaped case certainly does not make it easy to accommodate such a slim caliber. The breathtaking beauty of the tourbillon can be viewed at 6 o’clock, where the complication makes the magnetic luxury of the precious gems of the dial even more extreme. The contrast between the technical mastery of the mechanism and the cheeky luxury of the precious stones creates a seductive effect that is hard to forget.
Once again, Bulgari confirms itself as a master in the art of watchmaking, boldly challenging existing technical standards, without renouncing the essential vocation for luxury that has always characterized the Maison and revisiting an iconic seduction emblem. If Eve, in Eden, had found the Serpenti Seducers Tourbillon, we are sure that she would not have even noticed the apple, blinded by the beauty of this wonderful watch.
