After attracting a great deal of attention and achieving considerable success among customers with the launch of several models in the Ingenieur line, IWC is ready at Watches and Wonders to satisfy the tastes of even the most discerning customers by expanding the collection with new watches that stand out for their character and innovation.
These novelties represent the meeting of the canons of modern watchmaking-pushing toward experimentation in the field of sports watches with integrated bracelets-and the DNA of the iconic model designed in the 1970s by Gérald Genta.
Let’s find out about these new timepieces in detail.
IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar 41 in steel
The first new watch in the Ingenieur collection, it represents the most complicated of the line and is the perpetual calendar in steel, combining two concepts very dear to IWC: that of the steel sports watch and the complication developed by Kurt Klaus for the Da Vinci line. After forty years, the time has come for the brand to combine these two iconic elements.
The new reference IW344903 comes in a 41 mm steel case, whose proportions-both of the case and the dial-have been carefully revised to ensure perfect visual balance.
While the case and design remain very faithful to the original signed by Gérald Genta, it is a different story for the dial, where the positioning of the sub-counters introduces an element of novelty.
The counter at 3 o’clock shows the date, while the counter at 6 o’clock combines the month with the perpetual moon phase. Thanks to a reduction gear train, the moon phase display will deviate by only one day after 577.5 years. The counter at 9 o’clock shows the day of the week and also includes a small leap year indicator, counting down to the next one. On a leap year, the calendar will automatically add a 29th day in February.
Aesthetically, the alternating line work on the dial creates a pleasing and dynamic visual contrast.
Moving the watch is the in-house caliber 82600, with a power reserve of 60 hours. This movement also features zirconium oxide ceramic components-one of the hardest materials in nature-used at the points subject to the most wear, for superior durability and reliability over time.
IWC Ingenieur Automatic 42 in black ceramic
For the first time, the brand decides to combine Genta’s iconic design with ceramic, a material fascinating for its properties: high hardness, scratch resistance, superior lightness compared to steel, and stability against temperature changes.
Specifically, the case ring, bezel, and bottom ring are made of black zirconium oxide ceramic, a material known for excellent wear resistance.
The result-thanks in part to the all-ceramic bracelet-is an incredibly light watch that is comfortable on the wrist and has a more modern look than the classic steel.
In this case, the case measures 42 mm and inside beats the self-winding Manufacture caliber 82110 with a 60-hour power reserve.
IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 with green dial
This new addition to the Ingenieur line combines an unprecedented green dial with the iconic steel case and bracelet, in homage to the watch we will see on Brad Pitt’s wrist in the highly anticipated film “F1 The Movie.” The actor will play Sonny Hayes, whose team races in a livery perfectly matching the color of this timepiece.
This prop watch is the result of a collaboration between IWC Schaffhausen, Brad Pitt and Cloister Watch Company, a design studio that specializes in creating custom-made watches from vintage models.
In this case, the case measures 40 mm, and inside it pulses the in-house caliber 32111, with a power reserve of 120 hours and water resistance to 10 bar.
IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40 in 18K gold 5N
To further expand the offerings of the Ingenieur line, the brand decided to introduce a new model made of a precious material: their yellow gold alloy, identified by the initials 5N.
Again, the watch case measures 40 mm, while the dial-with the classic pattern alternating vertical and horizontal lines-is black, looking incredibly elegant and perfect for even the most formal occasions.
IWC Schaffhausen Ingenieur Automatic 35
As the latest novelty presented at the important Geneva fair, IWC has decided to introduce three models designed for a female clientele-or those who prefer smaller sizes-all featuring a 35 mm case.
The first model is made of 5N gold, but unlike its “big brother” already in the catalog, it features a champagne-colored dial, perfectly matching the case and bracelet. The other two models, however, are both made of steel: one with a black dial and the other with a silver dial.
Caliber 47110, with a 42-hour power reserve, is used in all three models.
Conclusion
Watches and Wonders 2025 represented an opportunity for IWC to focus on the Ingenieur line, concentrating on the diverse needs of enthusiasts and introducing for the first time materials never before used in this collection, such as ceramic-a material, however, that the brand knows very well.
