Welcome back dear friends of IWS. Today, Omega has decided to present the world with three brand new versions of its most iconic collection. This time, the universe of the Speedmaster 38 collection takes center stage.
To present the new watches in Omega’s collection, it held an incredible event at the Mandarin Oriental in Milan, where we were to attend. In addition to President and CEO Reynald Aeschlimann, some of the world’s most prominent Friends of the Brand were present.
But enough of the chatter now. Discover with us the newcomers from the Biel Manufacture: three brand new versions of Omega Speedmaster with diamond sets.
Case and Dial
These new watches have a brilliant aesthetic: the 38 mm case has been declined in three different metals, one in steel, one in Sedna Gold, and one in Moonshine Gold. The latter are special Omega proprietary alloys that consist of stronger and brighter versions of regular rose gold and yellow gold.
The first thing one notices when looking at these watches is a stunning bezel with sets of brilliant-cut diamonds that contour the dial with silvered counters. However, Omega did not limit itself to placing diamonds only on the bezel. In fact, looking closely, the outline of each of the oval counters has also been cleverly decorated with the same stones.
An additional noteworthy element is found on the side of the case. The crown, which normally bears the embossed Omega logo, has this time been decorated with a stunning brilliant-cut diamond that lends luminosity in an incredibly understated and elegant manner as only a diamond can.
As for the main dial coloring, we find a very dark brown tending toward burgundy for the Sedna Golda variant and for a stunning dark green for the Moonshine Gold.
The steel variant, on the other hand, will be available in both colors.
Finally, on the dial at 6 o’clock we have the date display inserted inside the chronograph hour counter.
Rotating the watch, we find the iconic Speedmaster seahorse engraving on the caseback, along with engravings of water resistance to 100 m, the Si14 silicon balance spring, and the mechanism’s column wheel.
The Integrated Bracelet
Omega has paid special attention to the bracelet of the three new watches. In fact, each of the new Speedmaster 38s is, for the first time, equipped with an integrated bracelet of the same metal as the case.
And it is not just any bracelet. In fact, the Biel-based manufacturer took inspiration from the bracelet of the iconic Speedmaster given by the Maison to President Nixon, but which he had to refuse because of laws prohibiting the acceptance of gifts to U.S. presidents.
The bracelet consists of 5 links, with a satin finish for the side ones and a polished finish for the center links. The special clasp for the clasp is also equipped with an adjustment mechanism that allows the size of the bracelet to be conveniently adjusted – within a certain limit – without having to disassemble the watch links.
Finally, each of the three variants can also be purchased with an alligator leather strap to match the color of the dial.
The Caliber
For these new watches Omega decided to use the Caliber 3330 Co-Axial Master Chronometer. An automatic chronograph movement with a column wheel and silicon balance spring that beats at a frequency of 4 Hz and has a 52-hour power reserve.

Final Thoughts
With these three new timepieces, Omega has truly amazed all its fans and the entire watchmaking world.
The presence of a set of diamonds makes these watches perfect for the female audience; however, the 38 mm size also makes this watch perfectly suitable for a male audience that appreciates the sparkle of precious stones.
The Moonshine Gold version has an incredible live luster while the Sedna Gold exudes an understated luxury that can in no way be matched by rose gold.
