Longines’ DNA is undeniably linked to the world of aviation. One only has to look at the brand’s new launches that took place in 2023 to understand how important flight is to the Maison. Nevertheless, as a good instrument watch manufacturer, Longines also has an important past in the world of diving watches. For this very reason, the winged hourglass maison has decided to dive into the underwater depths by launching a new version of the iconic Legend Diver.
An Important Legacy
Longines has a long and rich history related to sports and exploration, both terrestrial and underwater. As early as 1937, the company introduced the first chronograph with waterproof pushers, and in 1958 it made its first diver’s watch. In 1959, a watch was created specifically for underwater exploration, featuring an innovative Super-Compressor case with an internal rotating disc and two screw-down crowns. This iconic design is the basis of the new Longines Legend Diver
A watch that evokes the brand’s glorious diving past. The model is a clear tribute to its 1959 predecessor, with a design that retains its classic roots but with a modern twist. The main novelty lies in its reduced diameter to 39 mm – a move that demonstrates Longines’ ability to listen to the sentiment of its collectors who had expressed a desire for a return to more restrained shapes, faithful to the vintage heritage.
Faithful in Aesthetics, Advanced in Mechanics
Today, this legendary watch gets a makeover on the aesthetic level and also on the mechanical level. Certified to the ISO 6425 standard for diving watches, the new model is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 meters). It also boasts Chronometer certification from the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), which guarantees its accuracy after rigorous 15-day tests in various positions and temperatures.
At the heart of this watch is Longines’ exclusive L888.6 caliber, equipped with a silicon balance spring and highly resistant to magnetic fields. This automatic movement offers exceptional precision and a power reserve of up to 72 hours.

The dial design, available in black or blue, is instantly recognizable and features clear legibility. Luminescent Arabic numerals and rhodium-plated arrow hands with Super LumiNova® ensure excellent visibility in all light conditions.
A distinguishing feature of the Legend Diver from Longines is the bidirectional inner rotating bezel, protected inside the case, which allows diving times to be measured safely. The diver, the symbol of the collection, is engraved on the case back.
Price and Availability
The models are offered with different strap options: brown leather, a blue NATO strap, or a refined stainless steel bracelet. The list price is EUR 3,600.00 (vat included).
