In recent years we are witnessing the steady growth of one of the most exciting segments of contemporary watchmaking: microbrands. These independent realities, driven by passion and a firm desire to bridge the gap created by the big watch brands, are slowly gaining the attention of enthusiasts and major collectors.
Today we talk about one of them that, in just a few years, has managed to stand out in the entire independent scene. This is Venezianico, an Italian brand linked to one of the most beautiful and iconic cities in our country.
Venezianico was created to tell, through its timepieces, the history and what makes the city of Venice unique. Each collection pays homage, in its names and stylistic choices, to a distinctive element of the Serenissima.

The birth of the brand
Founded in 2017 by Alberto and Alessandro Morelli under the name “Meccaniche Veneziane,” the brand was born out of a desire to combine the Italian artisanal dimension with the cultural and architectural richness of the city of Venice. Each watch is designed to be a small tribute to beauty, ingenuity and harmony. In 2021 , the brand takes on a new guise and becomes Venezianico, thus consolidating its identity and presence.

Since its inception, the brand has enjoyed great interest with models such as the Nereide, Bucintoro and Redentore, still among the cornerstones of the catalog. Especially, the Nereide, inspired by the submarine of the same name launched in Venice in 1913, has established itself as the brand’s diver par excellence, while the Redentore, with its design recalls the architectural harmony of the Palladian basilica from which it takes its name.

Through this collection the brand has a way to experiment, proposing a precise vision in watchmaking: accessible yes, but never banal. The use of reliable automatic movements (Seiko NH35A and Sellita SW200-1) and a strongly recognizable design help position Venezianico among the most chosen and appreciated microbrands in Europe.
In recent years, the brand has been able to advance significantly in terms of research and development through the use of titanium cases, stone dials, meteorite, and platinum. These are all innovations that look to the future without straying from the original vision, and the latest creation is proof of that!

Redentore Utopia: the expression of Italian craftsmanship
The result of years of listening to its community and design work, the Redentore Utopia is a watch that fully embodies the concept of Made in Italy. From design to production, every element has been made entirely in Italy, from the manufacture caliber to the expert workings of the dial.
Made of steel, with a diameter of 38 mm, this watch breaks the traditional patterns of the brand by making a remarkable qualitative leap, which marks the beginning of a new chapter for Venezianico.

The first eye-catching element is the light blue dial, hand-engraved with guilloché technique. The radial texture comes from the craftsman’s sensitivity and precision, while the IP treatment gives depth and dynamism to the metallic reflections, creating a magnetic visual effect.
Crafted by the skilled master Riccardo Renzetti, each component has singular characteristics given by the hand-making, which enhance its beauty and uniqueness.

The beating heart of the Redentore Utopia is the caliber V5000, the first manufacture movement entirely designed by Venezianico. The project was developed under the technical direction of Andrea Menegazzo and thanks to the industrial vision of Fausto Berizzi, with the will of brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli, founders of the brand.
Equipped with 60 hours of power reserve, a thickness of 3.5mm and an accuracy of ±3 seconds per day, this caliber attests to the quality of construction impressed by Venezianico.
To certify this excellence, the brand has introduced a proprietary mark: the St. Mark’s emblem, a symbol of the city and now also of the movement’s construction quality, this internal certification is based on stringent criteria including: handmade finish, registered proprietary design, 5-year warranty, and a ±3-second per day precision control

The V5000 brings with it several interesting innovations. The copper-beryllium balance spring, made by Atokalpa, features a variable inertia system. Usually reserved for high-end timepieces, it can provide greater stability and fewer daily deviations.
The time train has also been redesigned: the seconds wheels are separated from the hour and minute wheels. This improves accuracy in the long run, since the energy dissipated by the continuous movement of the seconds hand does not interfere with the rest of the mechanism.
Finally, the movement is equipped with the KIF Elastor anti-shock system, designed to protect the balance pivot from shocks, ensuring strength and continuity of motion even in the event of accidental impacts.

Price and conclusions
The Redentore Utopia is available in a limited edition of 100 pieces, each offered at a price of €4,500.
An important price, but one that reflects the value of a timepiece conceived as a manifesto of Italian craftsmanship. The goal is clear: to enhance the craftsmanship, attention to detail and creative vision that has always distinguished a product entirely designed and built in Italy.
This watch marks a turning point for Venezianico, a before and after in its history. A clear demonstration of maturity and ambition.
The question now is, will this Redentore Utopia mark a new path for the brand? What do you guys think?
