In the heart of Emilia’s Motor Valley, a new protagonist of haute horology is born. April 2, 2026 marks the debut of the D001, the first creation of the DESDER maison, which brings to the industry a precise vision: the timepiece understood as a “mechanical sculpture.”

The project takes shape in Modena, in a setting where engineering and design have coexisted for generations. This is where the meeting between master watchmaker Luca Soprana and designer Mo Coppoletta was born. Both, repositories of different approaches and methodologies, tell us:

“One favored formal language, the other feasibility and technical consistency. But the point was not to find a compromise, but to give voice to a shared and profound ambition. The dialogue developed between those who design the bodywork and those who have to actually make a car work-a confrontation guided by the desire to never separate vision and substance. It is precisely in this synthesis that our identity lies.”

The inspiration comes from the bodywork of the 1920s and 1930s, in which the component of aerodynamics directly influenced the study of proportions. The “teardrop” lines thus became the main reference guiding the entire design.

In D001, the case is developed around the movement, following its geometries and volumes.

The main intention was to design an organic whole, not to assemble parts or add up experiences. For us, there is no bodywork on one side and mechanics on the other: there is only one architecture. This is also our interpretation, which is profoundly Italian: never to overlap form and technique, but to bring them to life together. It is in this integration that a project gains strength. ” They explain.

Inside, the in-house caliber bears the signature of Luca Soprana, one of the most influential names in independent haute horlogerie. Its structure develops around a central element of extraordinary complexity: the triaxial tourbillon, designed to improve its precision through multiple rotations. The time display, on the other hand, is entrusted to two separate cylinders: one for jumping hours and one for continuous minutes.

The movement is hand-wound with a double barrel, capable of delivering a torque of 12 N/mm and offering a power reserve of 45 hours. It works at a frequency of 3 Hz, equivalent to 21,600 vibrations per hour, and is composed of 465 elements and 63 jewels. The construction uses nickel silver for the plate and bridges, along with titanium and Phynox for the most stressed structural parts.

The presence of the power reservedisplay and GMT function expands the watch’s use and versatility.

Conclusions

Production is limited to six unique examples (with price upon request), each with subtle differences that define its identity. A choice that confirms DESDER’s approach, oriented toward individual realizations outside industrial logic.

The D001 thus represents a starting point. A design that focuses on the relationship between mechanics and form, translating a technical vision into a kinetic microcosm that recalls both automotive engineering and the analog instruments of historical dashboards.
