We are at Watches & Wonders 2026 and Cartier surprises us by presenting a collection that is broad but perfectly consistent with its vocabulary and savoir-faire.

Let’s find out in detail all the new features and some real twists and turns!

Cartier Privé – Les Opus: the tenth chapter

The tenth chapter of Cartier Privé marks a moment of synthesis. After years dedicated to the reinterpretation of iconic models, the Maison chooses to focus on three emblematic timepieces, Tank Normal, Tortue Chronograph Monopusher and Crash Skeleton, aligning them through the use of platinum and a precise color language.

Platinum, the metal of choice for haute horlogerie, is here juxtaposed with the burgundy of details: alligator straps, small parts, and ruby cabochons. The contrast with the silvered opaline dial and blued hands defines a common visual identity that runs throughout the trilogy.

Tortue Monopusher Chronograph

The Tortue Chronograph Monopusher reinterprets a model from the Collection Privée Cartier Paris created in 1998 and echoes its codes: XII in XL version, pearl hour markers, chemin de fer minute track and triangular motifs at the four corners of the dial. The Manufacture caliber 1928 MC is adapted to the tonneau case with integration work that reduces the thickness of the movement to 4.30 mm, making it the Maison’s thinnest chronograph.

The chronograph function is managed by a single pushpiece integrated into the crown, which governs start, stop, and reset operations. Côtes de Genève finishes follow the curvature of the bridges, visible through the sapphire crystal case back, and reinforce the link between mechanical construction and case shape.

Case dimensions are 43.7 × 34.8 mm with an overall thickness of 10.2 mm, while water resistance is 30 meters.

Normal Tank

The Tank Normal fits into the collection with a more essential approach. Inspiration comes from a 1934 model, recalled through the seven-row platinum bracelet and a construction that alternates between brushed and polished surfaces to emphasize the brancards.

The proportions remain restrained, with a case measuring 32.6 × 25.7 mm and a thickness of 6.85 mm. The hand-wound mechanical movement maintains an unobtrusive presence, leaving the purity of form to take center stage.

Skeleton Crash

The Skeletonized Crash represents the most radical expression of the collection. The asymmetrical case dictates a completely dedicated internal construction, solved with the hand-wound 1967 MC caliber.

The movement integrates 142 components and uses skeletonized bridges in the shape of Roman numerals, a patented solution that becomes a structural and aesthetic element. Each bridge is hammered by hand, with finishing work taking about two hours per specimen.

The dimensions are 45.34 × 25.18 mm, with a thickness of 12.97 mm. Production is limited to 150 numbered copies.

Cartier Privé – La Collection

Alongside platinum creations, Cartier introduces Cartier Privé – La Collection, a line that brings together historic forms in essential versions all strictly in yellow gold.

The Tank Normale, Tank Cintrée, and Cloche de Cartier are offered with dials with gilded finishes (horizontal, opaline, and grené, respectively), blued steel pomme spheres, and hand-wound mechanical movements. The cases are engraved on the case back with a stylized representation of their shape, emphasizing the iconic value of the design.

The Tank Cintrée uses the Manufacture caliber 1917 MC, while the proportions remain faithful to the historical models, with a marked longitudinal development and a contained thickness.

Tortue: contemporary evolution

In parallel with the Privé line, the Tortue returns with a complete collection that updates the 1912 model. The proportions become softer and more generous, with more attention paid to the tactile perception of the case.

Traditional codes are simplified. The Roman numerals remain, while the chemin de fer minute track is transformed into a line of dots. The guilloché gives way to a printed pattern that creates relief, and the secret signature is integrated into the dial design.

Versions range from yellow, rose, and white gold to diamond configurations, available in small and mini sizes with high-autonomy quartz movement.

Tortue high jewelry and Métiers d’Art

Within the same family, Cartier develops extraordinarily interesting variations from a decorative standpoint.

The baguette diamond version uses a bezel set with 46 diamonds (2.7 carats) and a clasp adorned with an additional 32 baguette diamonds. The movement is the manual caliber 430 MC, housed in a 41 × 33 mm platinum case with a thickness of 7.2 mm.

The Tortue Panthère Métiers d’Art, on the other hand, represents a multi-layered champlevé enameling work. The pattern extends from the dial to the case middle, with more than 80 hours of work, 36 firings, and numerous shades of enamel. Each version is limited to 100 pieces and uses the manual caliber 430 MC.

Roadster

The Roadster, an icon originally launched in 2002, makes its return while keeping its connection to the automotive world intact, evident in the tachometer-inspired dial and case construction.

Proportions are refined and ergonomics improved. The crown is integrated into the case middle, while the glass and metal build visual continuity connecting the dial, date lens, and bezel. The four new rivets reinforce the character of the design.

The collection is offered in steel, gold, and two-tone versions in two sizes. The Manufacture automatic movements are the caliber 1847 MC for the large models and the 1899 MC for the medium models, with water resistance to 100 meters.

The bracelet introduces shorter links and improved ergonomics, along with the QuickSwitch™ system that enables quick strap replacement.

Santos de Cartier Chronograph

The Santos chronograph continues the evolution of one of the Maison’s most iconic models.

The dial combines satin and soleil finishes and has three subdials-seconds at 6 o’clock, minutes at 3 o’clock, and hours at 9 o’clock-circled with a yellow gold or rhodium flash border, depending on the version. The gladius-shaped spheres are coated with Super-LumiNova®, enhancing readability.

The 1904-CH MC automatic movement handles chronograph functions via two pushers. It offers a 47-hour power reserve and water resistance to 100 meters, along with enhanced resistance to shocks, magnetic fields and temperature variations.

The cuff uses the SmartLink™ system for quick adjustment and QuickSwitch™ for interchangeability.

Baignoire

The Baignoire is reinterpreted through the use of the clou de Paris motif, applied not only to the bracelet but also to the case and dial. The result is a continuous surface that transforms the watch into a sculptural object.

Gold working requires high precision to maintain pattern homogeneity on curved surfaces. The polishing step, performed entirely by hand, enhances the reliefs without compromising them.

Cartier at Watches and Wonders 2026

Alongside the yellow gold version, Cartier offers diamond variants, in which the setting on the dial and that on the case create an admirable play of light. The dimensions remain small and the quartz movement underscores the jewel-watch nature.

Myst de Cartier

The Myst de Cartier pushes formal research in an even more sumptuous direction. It takes the form of an elastic bracelet without a clasp, constructed as a sequence of elements reminiscent of talismans.

The dial, framed by onyx and pavé diamonds, emerges from a composition of sinuous lines and interwoven volumes. The construction requires complex hand-setting and lacquering, with hours devoted to defining each element. The quartz movement remains hidden within this structure, leaving the form to play the dominant role.
