Exactly one month before the start of W&W, the most eagerly awaited event of the year for news from the world of hands, Audemars Piguet has decided to get everyone ahead of the curve by unveiling brand new models. This is a very important year for the Swiss brand, which is celebrating 150 years since its founding in 1875 in Le Brassus and is now being celebrated in grand style with brand new watches.

With its newly unveiled models, Audemars Piguet has once again struck a chord in the hearts of haute horlogerie enthusiasts with a series of novelties that combine tradition, innovation, and bold design.

Dear friends of IWS, let us now take a closer look at the main new products from the house of Le Brassus.

Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet: between steel and tourbillon

Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet for 150 years

The Code 11.59 collection is enriched with new references in steel, with refined aesthetics and attention to detail that testify to the craftsmanship of the house. The typical slate gray dial, embellished with a guilloché motif created by Swiss guillocheur artisanYann von Kaenel, plays with light in a refined contrast to the deep blue accents in which the base tints, used to print the dials, present a pattern similar to the effect of ripples on the surface of water. In the chronograph version, the counters feature the “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” hue obtained by PVD. The double-curved sapphire crystal emphasizes readability and sophisticated design.

The 38 mm diameter Code 11.59 Flying Tourbillon Automatic is one of the most fascinating of these new creations celebrating Audemars Piguet’s 150th anniversary. The 18-karat sandblasted gold case, embellished with no fewer than 235 brilliant-cut diamonds, is a triumph of elegance. The dial, with its finely worked surface, features a concentric circle motif that catches the light and gives unparalleled depth. The 18K sandblasted gold hour markers and hands perfectly complement the warm hue of the dial, ensuring a harmonious and sophisticated look.

The beating heart of this marvel is Caliber 2968, an extra-thin movement only 3.4 mm thick, equipped with a flying tourbillon with a titanium cage, visible at 6 o’clock on the dial. This patented mechanism allows even distribution of energy to the balance, improving precision and efficiency. The perfectly balanced 22-carat rose gold oscillating weight ensures smooth and efficient winding, offering a 50-hour power reserve. This is complemented by a beige alligator strap with a sandblasted gold clasp, embellished with additional diamonds, for an extra touch of exclusivity.

For lovers of sports watches, the new range Royal Oak Offshore, also celebrating Audemars Piguet’s 150th anniversary, introduces models that explore the use of ceramic with surprising results. This material, is obtained through a sintering process at over 1,400°C, ensuring exceptional hardness and scratch resistance. The first model, 43 mm in diameter, features a bold combination of black ceramic with a green ceramic bezel, crown and pushers, creating a dynamic and eye-catching effect. The dial, decorated with the classic Méga Tapisserie pattern, is finished in a striking shade of dark green, with black chronograph counters and luminescent details for optimal readability.

In contrast, the second model celebrating the house’s 150th anniversary, also from the Offshore collection, 42 mm in diameter, adopts a total black look, with the case and bracelet entirely in black ceramic, enhanced only by the iconic steel hexagonal screws. The dial, also decorated with Méga Tapisserie, features counters in an elegant black galvanic finish, with burnished white gold hour markers and hands.

Both models are powered by Caliber 4401 and 4404 automatic movements, respectively, equipped with a flyback function for instant reset of the chronograph measurement. The finishing touches on the movement, visible through the sapphire crystal case back, include the motif Côtes de Genève, polished beveling and a 22-karat rose gold oscillating weight for a touch of exclusivity. The interchangeable strap, made of textured leather or rubber, offers further versatility to the watch’s overall design.

The architecture of the dial reveals the operation of the perpetual calendar, capable of keeping track of leap years without the need for adjustment until 2100. The skeletonized dial highlights the alternation of polished and satin-finished surfaces, with gold details contrasting elegantly with the dark bridges of the movement, in which the representation of the moon phases stands out. The latter is the result of a reinterpretation of a perpetual calendar pocket watch exhibited at the Museé Atelier Audemars Piguet.

This limited edition features a 41-mm-diameter case made of titanium and Bulk Metalic Glass (BMG), a material discovered in the 1960s, which lends additional exclusivity to this model, making it a genuine collector’s item. The caliber has been hand-finished with bevels and decorations that emphasize the depth of the watch. The precision of the movement is ensured by an advanced escapement system, which ensures a smooth and constant rate over time.
