The year 2025 marks an important milestone for Hublot, which this year celebrates 20 years of the Big Bang collection, one of the Nyon-based maison’s most iconic and recognizable. To celebrate this first two decades, the brand today unveiled the BIG BANG 20TH ANNIVERSARY “MATERIALS AND HIGH COMPLICATIONS” set, valued at 1 million Swiss francs, directly at Watches and Wonders.

Let’s go together to find out what this is all about.

Hublot Big Bang: a story of research and innovation

As is well known, Hublot revolutionized the concept of the watch by fusing two diametrically opposed materials for the first time: a gold case combined with a rubber strap. With this ingenious innovation, the brand immediately established itself as a symbol of elegance and sportiness, breaking traditional patterns.

In 2005, this revolutionary vision led to the birth of the Big Bang collection, which was enthusiastically received by fans. The success was also due to the perfect reflection of the brand’s motto- “Art of Fusion “-expressed through the use of novel materials and colors brought together in bold combinations. The innovative approach displayed by Hublot with the Big Bang has continued to evolve over time, leading to numerous technical and stylistic achievements.

Recall, for example, the introduction in 2011 of the patented Magic Gold material, an alloy of gold and ceramic that is significantly more scratch-resistant than traditional gold, or the recent creation of the world’s first case made entirely of sapphire – transparent or colored. These milestones testify to Hublot’s ongoing commitment to experimentation, with the Big Bang as the undisputed protagonist of a path of continuous innovation.

Today, at Watches and Wonders, the Swiss maison celebrates all its savoir-faire by presenting an exclusive box set, worth CHF 1 million, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Big Bang.

The set presented on the occasion of the 20th anniversary consists of five unique pieces, each with distinctive features that, when combined, tell a story of daring, research and technical avant-garde.

The first model is the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Sapphire, with a 44 mm diameter case made entirely of transparent sapphire crystal. Inside beats the manufacture automatic caliber HUB6035, equipped with a 22-karat white gold micro-rotor, decorated with the “20 YEARS” logo , visible thanks to the transparency of the case.

A first for Hublot follows: the Big Bang Tourbillon Chronograph in Water Blue Sapphire, the brand’s first blue sapphire watch. The “tropical blue” hue of the case perfectly matches the matching strap. The movement is Caliber HUB6310, an in-house chronograph with a hand-wound, single-pusher tourbillon.

As mentioned earlier, the spirit of theArt of Fusion has led Hublot to be among the pioneers in the use of ceramic in watchmaking. This year sees the debut of the new Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Red Magic, with a striking red ceramic case. Also in this model, the movement is the HUB6035.

The fourth timepiece in the set is the Big Bang Tourbillon Chronograph Cathedral Minute Repeater, with a black satin-finished carbon fiber case. It combines two major complications: the single-pusher chronograph (activated at two o’clock) and the “cathedral” gong minute repeater, whose sound is deeper than a classical repeater. The caliber used is the HUB8110, an in-house hand-wound tourbillon movement.

Closing out the case is the Big Bang Integrated Tourbillon Cathedral Minute Repeater, which also features a tourbillon and minute repeater, but features a case made of blue Texalium-a high-performance carbon-fiber-based material used for the first time on the case, bezel, and integrated strap. The use of Texalium also affects the acoustics of the watch, giving the minute repeater a unique timbre due to the different density of the material.
