Are you a professional watch enthusiast and do you practice the sport of sailing? Well, you should definitely know that, Omega has just unveiled an absolutely outstanding professional watch dedicated to those who practice the sport of sailing: the Seamaster Regatta.
The Swiss watchmaker has taken its “icon of the seas” and turned it into a timepiece-tool chock-full of functions that come to the aid of sailors on the seas.
Launched for the 37th America’s Cup, the Seamaster Regatta is fully equipped for life on the ocean. A watch for fearless sailors equipped with both an analog and digital dial.
Let’s now go through all the details of this amazing watch inside the article.
The innovative dial of the new Omega Seamaster Regatta
With a grade 5 titanium case measuring 46.75 mm in diameter, the Seamaster Regatta, with incredible resistance to depths of up to 300 meters, is packed with invaluable instruments, including a moon phase indicator, chronograph, logbook, temperature indicator, accelerometer, three alarms and, of course, a racing chronograph.
Reading a watch can be a challenge while sailing, especially among waves tens of meters high. And that is precisely why Omega ensured that the Regatta could provide data at a glance, even in the most extreme conditions.
The watch’s innovative dial features an LCD display fused to perfection with analog elements. With black characters on a gray background, designed to show its multiple digital readouts, the interface is easy to read.
The central hour, minute, and seconds hands inspired by the iconic 300M diver, along with the digital display, can be backlit to increase readability in low-light conditions.
There is little point in having a thousand functions at your fingertips if the watch is difficult to use while on deck. In fact, to help sailors navigate through the Regatta’s many functions, the four buttons on either side of the caseband, one red and three blue, have all been rubber-coated for ease of use at sea. In addition, on the case at 3 o’clock, we find a sandblasted crown with the Swiss maison’s laser-engraved horseshoe logo, which can be operated by pressing and rotating
The expertly crafted caseback, reminiscent of the competition, features laser engravings reminiscent of the waves of the sea, while its center features the logo of the America’s Cup 2024 held in Barcelona.
In addition to digital and analog readouts, the Regatta can provide acoustic signals to sailors, which are amplified by a resonant cavity in the caseback designed according to the principles of “Helmholtz resonance.”
The visible screws present around the raised case back, communicating a high sense of airtightness and technique in the service of the user.
The entire case, as well as the case back, are satin-finished in order to avoid unpleasant glittering or disturbing reflections of the sun while sailing. Nothing is left to chance!
The movement of the new Omega Seamaster Regatta
Omega’s caliber 5701 with thermocompensated circuitry is powered by advanced quartz technology, providing exceptional precision compared to traditional mechanical movements. In Biel-Bienne, they have a knack for it, and this movement is proof of that; designed to provide a range of digital and analog functions, this movement makes Omega’s magnificent timepiece a versatile instrument, perfect for sailors.
The strap of the new Omega Seamaster Regatta
Recalling the blue dial interior and the fantastic rotating ceramic bezel, this wonderful “wrist sailor” is presented with an integrated blue rubber waterproof strap, with a wave pattern inside, is secured with Omega’s patented Quick-Change system.
