Welcome back fellow enthusiasts! As you may know, the renowned independent watchmaking house H. Moser & Cie. – just Moser to insiders – has announced the beginning of its collaboration with the equally famous car manufacturer Alpine, producer of sports cars and competitor in Formula 1.

Today, to celebrate its partnership with Alpine, Moser is launching the first watch in honor of the collaboration… and it’s not just any watch, but a truly unprecedented treat. Now let’s put the pleasantries aside and discover together the new Moser Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Alpine Limited Edition. I assure you that if the name sounds complex to you, the watch is even more so!

New Moser Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon

Il Nuovo Moser Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon

Just a few weeks ago during Watches and Wonders 2024, Moser presented to the public a never-before-seen version of the Moser Streamliner Skeletonized and with Tourbillon that was undoubtedly aesthetically reminiscent of the famous Cylindrical Tourbillon complication. However, this version of Streamliner did not then feature a cylindrical tourbillon, but rather a regular tourbillon.

Who would have expected that only two weeks after the first presentation we would already see the Cylindrical Tourbillon on a new model? Honestly, we were completely blown away by the news but also incredibly excited.

As we can see from the photo, Moser’s new watch takes considerable inspiration in terms of dial, hour reading, and skeletonization, from its predecessor mounted on the Pioneer case. Some might ask why we did not have a more innovative and original design, but we reply that when something has succeeded to perfection, changing it makes no sense.

Despite the discreet resemblance, the skeletonized dial with cylindrical tourbillon, set inside the Streamliner case, takes on a completely different style, going to further emphasize the sporty and avant-garde vocation of the collection, as well as of the collaboration with Alpine Motorsports.

If you look closely, however, you will find a slight but substantial difference. The hour display at 12 o’clock has been replaced with an incredible small semi-transparent dial in the color blue, representative of the partnership between the watch manufacturer and the racing stable.

Above the hour and minute dials we find applied indexes enhanced with Super-Luminova® to ensure maximum visibility even in low-light conditions. As for the ends of the hour and minute spheres, on the other hand, a special technology called Globolight® was used.

Rotating the watch, we find a sapphire crystal case back that allows us to admire the other side of the fascinating fully skeletonized HMC 811 movement of the Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon. This is surrounded by the stunning rose gold oscillating weight.

The 42.3-mm-diameter steel case is topped with a convex crystal-sapphire that brings the watch’s thickness to 14 mm. These are very similar dimensions to what the Streamliner has accustomed us to on all the complicated models in the collection. The case with screw-down crown is water-resistant to 12 ATM, corresponding roughly to 12 bar. The watch is complemented by a blue rubber strap printed in such a way as to give a textile-like effect, which once again echoes the symbolic color of the partnership with Alpine Motorsports.

Price and availability

The new Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon is a limited edition of only 100 pieces and will be sold at a list price of CHF89,000.00, CHF10,000.00 more than its counterpart declined in a Pioneer case.

Final Thoughts

This new watch from the house of Moser is an adaptation of the iconic Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeletonized movement to the Streamliner case, celebrating the newly formed partnership with Alpine. The result is an incredibly fascinating watch that showcases Moser’s technical and horological prowess, combining it with Alpine’s sporty DNA. An extremely modern timepiece that, given the mere 100 pieces available, is sure to go down a storm.
