We had the unique opportunity to get our hands on Squale’s newest gem, and we are excited to share our impressions with you. The manufacture unveiled this summer the Squale Master x Palombari del Comsubin, an extraordinary watch made in collaboration with the Divers of Comsubin, an elite unit of the Italian Navy.
Technical details
The Squale Master x Palombari del Comsubin is Squale’s first watch made of Grade 5 Titanium. This material is known for its extraordinary strength and lightness, ideal for the extreme conditions in which divers operate. With water resistance up to 1,200 meters, the presence of a Helium valve, and a unidirectional bezel equipped with BGW9-type SuperLuminova, this watch is a true tool for professional divers.
As a testament to the unquestionable DNA of this watch, of the 500 timepieces that were produced, 80 went directly to the elite Comsubin divers.
On the blue dial, we immediately find the logo of the Divers with the inscription “COMSUBIN,” thus representing the prestigious elite department of the Italian Navy. The blue color of the dial echoes the shade of the Comsubin divers’ uniform, giving the watch a distinctive identity. While the orange present in the details gives a very pleasant chromatic effect.
I really love that despite being a dive watch designed for a military corps, the reasonable size of 41.65 mm in diameter and 16.15 mm thick allows it to fit well on small wrists – like mine.
The case back, is engraved with the inscription “Palombari Marina Italiana”. As you can see, at the bottom we find the inscription Brev. Nr.; this is the only difference between the watches assigned to Comsubin Divers and those that can be purchased by the public. In fact, those assigned will bear the patent number of each Diver.
Inside the distinctive presentation box we find two straps. The traditional rubber strap is joined by a more distinctive one made from the same fabric as the camouflage worn by divers.
Price and availability
Limited to only 500 pieces, the Squale Master x Palombari del Comsubin is truly a collector’s item. Of these, 80 are reserved for Comsubin divers, making the remaining 420 units even more valuable. The sale price to be able to purchase this watch is 1990.00 EUR (VAT included).
Squale’s History With The Marina Italiana
The collaboration between Squale and the Italian Navy is not new; it dates back to the 1980s and was renewed back in 2022 with the Master Marina Militare model. The Comsubin diver unit is world-renowned for its diving expertise and collaborations with other national and international bodies, and now Squale is also celebrating its importance with this new timepiece.
