When silence becomes emotion and then, suddenly, music. In the new Carillon Tourbillon Signature Series, Jean-Claude Biver and his son Pierre turn anticipation into sonic ecstasy: a quick gesture on the corrector to the left of the case and the three hammers sculpt the air, suggesting that behind a perfectly composed face of gold and titanium, one of watchmaking’s most dizzying complications comes alive.

Unveiled last June 26, 2025, it is a striking demonstration of how the Biver family, after half a century of revolutions, has not lost the instinct to surprise; on the contrary, today it refines it with a touch of rare restraint.

In 2023, the Carillon Tourbillon debuted with a tourbillon in full view, crowned by a theatrical bridge taking center stage. Today, however, the new Signature Series Two-Tone and Titanium references close the curtain on the mechanism, letting surfaces, reflections, and proportions do the talking.

The Two-Tone version combines grade 5 titanium with 5N rose gold, evoking vintage icons without nostalgia; the Titanium, on the other hand, is monochromatically sculptural, modern, almost Zen-like. Both mount the iconic Biver bracelet, integrated into the case with faceted asymmetrical links, hand-finished and equipped with the new easy-link system for adjustable comfort at all times.

The dial is a subtle work of art: worked on multiple levels of brushing (concentric for titanium and vertical for rose gold), it is reminiscent of 1940s timepieces reinterpreted with contemporary sensibilities.

Applied indexes and the chemin de fer enclosing sandblasted titanium reflect light gracefully, while the hand-polished dauphine hands with four recessed corners seem to dance with each movement of the wrist.

Behind the apparent simplicity of an elegant 42 mm diameter, 13.7 mm thick case, the Carillon Tourbillon Signature Series hides one of the most extraordinary mechanical architectures in modern watchmaking: the JCB.001-B automatic caliber.

Composed of no less than 374 elements, 44 rubies and finished entirely by hand according to the strictest Haute Horlogerie criteria. This movement integrates three masterful complications: a one-minute tourbillon, a minute repeater with three-hammer carillon, and a bidirectional platinum micro-rotor.

The tourbillon, though concealed behind the dial, regulates the mechanism with 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and provides a 72-hour power reserve. The smooth and quiet winding system uses an off-center rotor that leaves room for musicality. Nothing is left to chance; every component is designed to please first the eyes of the maker and then those of the connoisseur.

The case is complemented on both sides by domed sapphire crystals, a water-resistance rating of 50 meters, and 21.3 mm lugs. The integrated bracelet is available in solid titanium or a fine combination of titanium and rose gold for the Two-Tone version, each with matching folding clasp and micro-adjustment system.

Each reference can be accompanied by a matching pair of cufflinks: titanium with white or rose gold inserts, signed and with a swivel clasp, for a consistent aesthetic down to the smallest detail.
Conclusions and price
In short, with the Carillon Tourbillon Signature Series, Maison Biver continues to prove that true innovation today does not necessarily come through visual spectacularity. On the contrary: the decision to hide its mechanical prowess behind a clean dial is a statement of stylistic maturity, of refined understatement. It is a proposal designed for those who do not need to impress (even if the exposed case back shows something shocking to say the least), but instead seek an intimate, profound, personal experience.

Offered at CHF475,000 (excluding tax), the Carillon Tourbillon Signature Series is not just a technical exercise or a luxury object: it is a manifesto. A tribute to elegance, a whisper of great watchmaking that speaks, indeed sings only to those with the ear and the eye to catch it.
