The Time On Show has come to an end and as you know we were Media Partner of the event. For a good 4 days we were inside the gota of vintage watchmaking in Italy among enthusiasts like us and a selection of watches of the highest level.

Although the 15 exhibitors at the event brought a number of amazing watches, there are a few that are truly the highlights of the event for us, and we present them to you in this new article!

Cartier Tank Reverso

Cartier Tank Reverso

Among the most fascinating watches we have seen are two Cartier Reverso watches from the 1970s that are extremely fascinating. Particularly the larger model that features not one but two dials, one white and the other champagne.

This is made even more interesting by the fact that the dials are driven by two separate mechanisms, which thus allows the possibility of setting a second time zone. Two watches with unparalleled vintage appeal distinguished by Cartier’s signature elegance.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Tuscan Dial

by Mattioli & Stefani

The second watch we want to share with you is a stunning Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar with a blue “Tuscan” dial. In this fascinating workmanship the dial is hand hammered, thus giving an incredible three-dimensionality and above all, uniqueness to the piece since no dial can ever be the same as the other.

It could have ended there, and it hasn’t. In fact, the watch is one of a kind, thanks to the presence of not only the Tuscan dial but also the brilliant-cut diamonds on the hour markers. You know I have a soft spot for Royal Oak, and this configuration can only put my finger on it.

Rolex Daytona Ref. 116519 Michael Schumacher per Jean Todt

by Antonio Nocco

Rolex Daytona ref. 116519 that Schumacher donated to Jean Todt

This here is the Daytona that went up for auction in November 2022 during Christie’s Legendary & Unique Watches. It belonged to Jean Todt and was given to him by Michael Schumacher himself. As proud Formula 1 fans, we could not help but include it within our list.

This is Reference 116519, in white gold with a mother-of-pearl dial and applied Arabic hour markers. It is embellished with the wonderful engraving “From Michael with thanks,” which testifies to the history of this watch.

Rolex Datejust Zebra

by Prezioso Parma

Rolex Datejust Zebra

Despite not being a lover of precious stones on watches, I could not fail to include this Rolex Datejust “Zebra.”A watch you don’t see every day, it demonstrates Rolex’s savoir-faire.

The 36 mm white gold case is embellished with 24 brilliant-cut diamonds per lug and 60 baguette-cut blue sapphires arranged circularly on the bezel. The hour markers also consist of brilliant-cut diamonds, while the entire dial is pervaded by a zebra motif created through the use of pavé diamonds.

Patek Philippe ref. 3970

by Bonanno Watches

Patek Philippe’s reference 3970 is truly stunning. When it comes in white gold, with a black dial and diamond hour markers, we cannot help but be enamored. This watch was at the Giovanni Bonanno booth.

Reference 3970 is a perpetual calendar chronograph, succeeding the legendary reference 2499. It is an extremely desirable watch in itself but we are more accustomed to seeing it with a white dial and baton hour markers. In this configuration it is absolutely irresistible.

Cartier Crash Salmon Dial

The appeal of this Cartier Crash with salmon dial is undeniable. This might be a piece unique part of a larger order of five pieces commissioned.

A little bit of Watch Spotting

Among all the watches we saw on the wrists of friends and enthusiasts during the event, there were two that particularly caught our attention.

Gerald Genta Perpetual Calendar

First up is @carlottaswrist. A stunning Gerald Genta Perpetual Calendar on a Bund crocodile strap.

Patek Philippe 7118/1A on Alessandro Squarzi's wrist

The second is the wrist of Alessandro Squarzi. The style icon wore a women’s Patek Philippe Nautilus reference 7118/1A, a modern watch with a stainless steel case 35.2 mm wide.

Final remarks

We have to admit, there was no shortage of gorgeous watches at this year’s Time on Show. Each of the 15 dealers brought an impeccable selection, and in all honesty to make a whole list of noteworthy watches would be impossible. So we just brought the ones that by personal taste or special features impressed us the most. What about you? Which watch did you like the most?
