Born in 1996, the Cartier Tank Française has become an icon in its own way, although many other models of the brand are already well known. Its popularity is also the result of the prominent personalities who have worn it, from Lady Diana to Michelle Obama.
Today the Maison has redesigned the Tank Française, making it more modern and interesting, making a whole series of improvements that affect both the bracelet and the dial. In addition to this, they presented an unprecedented large size version.
The new Tank Française large model
This new model is the highlight of this presentation. Until now, Française has always been associated with a female audience, with lines considered softer and less in line with what is usually defined as male taste. But so much has changed in recent years, that the arrival of this large size model opens up a new world for men’s wrists as well. Just have a look how stylish Remi Malek is by wearing a Tank Française.
Tanks, being models with a rectangular and not a round case, must be measured both in length and width. This new Tank Française large model measures 37x31mm, 6mm longer and 4mm wider than the original medium model.
Like any Cartier “large size” watch, the date appears on the dial, which in this case is not positioned at the entire index at three o’clock, but on the inside, cutting it in half.
In the gold versions we have only two sizes, namely small and medium, of great elegance.
The differences with the previous model (medium version)
To understand in depth what improvements have been made, you need to compare the average models: the one in production before 2023 and the one today.
Starting from the dial, we note that the indexes have been changed, from black to silver, and the surface, from opaline to silver. The bracelet has been redesigned with a final link that integrates into the case and with satin finishes instead of polishing in the outer links. The crown has also been integrated inside the case, whereas in the previous version it was external.
The models in pink gold, in steel+yellow gold remain unchanged, as are the models in steel or yellow gold with diamond-cut casebands.
Price and public availability of the new Tank Française
The new Cartier Tank Française large model will have a retail price in steel versions of €3,800 (small size), €4,850 (medium size) and €5,950 (large size). In the new gold versions, the price will be €22,900 (small size) and €26,600 (medium size).
