The Patek Philippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition 2023 is back after 4 long years, one of the most prestigious watchmaking exhibitions, which brings together some of the brand’s most incredible watches, together with the launch of some very limited series.
The Patek Philippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition 2023 in Tokyo
This year the Maison has chosen Japan to celebrate the return of its appointment to celebrate Haute Horlogerie. The Patek Philippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition in Tokyo will be held in the Sumitomo Sankaku Hiroba skyscraper and will contain 500 unique watches, as well as the launch of some special limited edition series.
The exhibition will be divided into 10 zones, each with a different theme, which literally takes you on a journey through the history of Patek, from the key places such as the historic headquarters in rue du Rhône, to the new factory in Plan-les-Ouates, and finally to the Patek Philippe Museum.
Located in the financial district of Tokyo, this year’s Watch Art Grand Exhibition will be an unmissable event. We are very curious what will be launched this year after all the releases of Watches & Wonders 2023.
The first edition of Dubai in 2012 and the following ones
11 years ago, the first Watch Art Grand Exhibition was opened in Dubai, a place that has become famous in recent years as one of the landmarks in the Middle East, but was still under development at the time. This region is very dear to Patek, who have developed several working relationships and friendships in the local market.
Middle Eastern art has been the inspiration for many of the brand’s creations, from clocks to wrist and pocket watches. The Dubai exhibition included around 400 watches in different thematic areas.
Between 2013 and 2019, Munich, London, New York and Singapore were the protagonists of these exhibitions. If we were to find a common thread running through all the editions, it would certainly be the complication of the World Hours, or Universal Time as it is called by PP.
The latest Watch Art Grand Exhibition in Singapore in 2019
Shortly before the start of the pandemic, which decreed the complete stop of every event and travel for a long time, Singapore had hosted the 2019 Watch Art Grand Exhibition (we told you about it here).
An incredible exhibition that welcomed around 68,000 visitors over a 16-day period. The common thread of the event was obviously the art of South-East Asia, with a particular focus on 467 watches, 119 of which were on loan from the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva. The richest variety of special editions dedicated to Singapore were also presented for the occasion, including models with minute repeaters, tourbillons, world time, pendulum clocks and sports watches.
Honorable mention to references 5303R-010 and 5531-010, which brought the exhibition to an exceptional level, in addition to the craftsmanship that is always in our hearts.
Dates and registration at the Patek Philippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition in Tokyo
The Patek Philippe Grand Art Exhibition 2023 in Tokyo will be held from June 10 to 25. To participate you need to register on the following Patek official website.
We expect Japanese crafts to be the leitmotif for all new editions. Let’s not deny that we’d like to see a new enamel dial dedicated to Tokyo on the reference 5531, as well as an Aquanaut with a purple strap (which we’d be talking about all year long). Being the color of the exhibition, we could see something really interesting and less classic than usual given the hue. What do you expect for this occasion?
