You know, the arid, iron-rich land of Australia doesn’t have much to offer aside from a few pitfalls like deadly vipers and brawling kangaroos, but for those who should feel brave, adventurous, and ready for any challenge, TAG Heuer is teaming up with Time + Tide, a leading independent watch platform, to launch an innovative limited edition: the TAG Heuer x Time + Tide Aquaracer Sundowner.
This sporty timepiece, limited to only 250 pieces, is inspired by the colors and wilderness of the Australian desert, bringing to the wrist a watch designed for refined adventurers who seek luxury and high performance.
Andrew McUtchen, founder of Time+Tide, reflects on the importance of the brand and the special value of this project, “Launching this watch in our 10th year of business is a significant milestone. Never would I have imagined ten years ago that our logo would appear next to TAG Heuer’s logo on a dial.”
Since 1978, TAG Heuer’s Aquaracer line has epitomized adventure in all extreme conditions, thanks to the ingenuity of the iconic Jack Heuer, who devised a watch category for men and women seeking challenges both on land and at sea.
This collection has evolved to become a benchmark for luxury sports watches, and today, with the Solargraph model, it takes a step toward sustainability and technological innovation. But let’s take a closer look at the new Aquaracer with an “Australian” flavor.
The new TAG Heuer x Time+Tide Aquaracer Sundowner
The Aquaracer Sundowner is distinguished by its sporty-luxurious look, inspired by the natural tones of the Australian desert, known as the “outback.” The sandblasted, grade 2 titanium case ensures optimal resistance even in the most extreme conditions, while the sturdy khaki fabric strap helps give the watch an adventurous and refined style as well as avoiding the annoying sweat that can form with a classic bracelet.
Visible 18K rose gold details on the indexes, spheres and logos add a touch of understated luxury, perfect for the discerning collector.
Located at 6 o’clock on the dial of the new Aquaracer Sundowner is Time+Tide’s famous anchor logo, making this model a unique and instantly recognizable piece for watch enthusiasts.
True to the tradition of the Aquaracer line, the Sundowner model also features a unidirectional rotating bezel (this time with engraved, rose gold-filled numerals), a screw-down crown, water resistance to 200 meters, and sapphire crystal to ensure maximum durability and performance in any situation.
The TH50-00 movement, which captures natural and artificial light by means of solar cells inserted under the semi-transparent dial, gives life to this unique watch.
A full charge is achieved in 40 hours of exposure to light, and the watch can run for up to 10 months on a single charge, extending the life to as much as 4 years in power-saving mode simply by disengaging the crown. With an estimated battery life of 15 years, this technology represents a breakthrough in sustainability.
Conclusions
The design of the new Aquaracer Sundowner reflects the partnership between TAG Heuer and Time+Tide, which was born in Australia and has developed in parallel with the platform’s international expansion. Van Mulryan, TAG Heuer’s general manager for Australia and New Zealand, points out, “This collaboration, inspired by the land we both love, celebrates the incredible connection between TAG Heuer and Time+Tide, offering a unique fusion of our design with their signature style.”
With a limited edition of only 250 pieces, this watch promises to become a coveted piece among collectors and watch lovers around the world. Through this model, TAG Heuer and Time+Tide celebrate not only the beauty and mystery of the Australian desert, but also their shared passion for watches that embody timeless elegance.
