Summer has come, hot sunny day are not a mirage anymore, and to fight these last days’ burning heat many opted to move to the seaside.

Italian Watch Spotter decided to present you five perfect daily-wear watches for your vacations, from sea to mountains, wherever your summer’s directing!

BVLGARI Octo Roma

Its octagonal shapes are inspired from Massenzio’s Basilica, where BVLGARI took inspiration for the whole Octo line, combining a classic design with highly technological materials, giving life to an innovation record-collecting product line.

This time-only features a 41 mm steel case, black dial with baton indexes and Arabic numerals at 12 and 6. A small window at 3 display the date, printed on a black date wheel matching the dial.

The standard strap is in black alligator, but a steel bracelet similar to the Octo Finissimo’s one can be chosen instead.

The movement hiding inside this Octo is the automatic caliber BVL 191 Solotempo, with 42 hours of power reserve that can be seen thru the transparent case back.

This time-only is the perfect compromise for the ones looking for a watch to wear carelessly.
From a formal dinner to a swim in the sea, the 100 mt water resistance and its characteristic shapes make this watch the perfect companion for who wants a single watch for every occasion.

Cartier Calibre de Cartier Diver

This Cartier Calibre de Cartier Diver is the watch for you!

Cartier is been capable of mixing a professional Diver features and the maison’s distinctive traits in a single watch.

Comes with a steel case in 42 mm with a satin and polish light play. The caseback is closed and secured to the case with eight screws to provide a water resistance up to 300 mt.

The unidirectional bezel has a slightly larger diameter (45 mm) to ease its operation in water. Another particular is the screw-down crown, set with a blue spinel, a contribute to remind that water isn’t this watch only vocation.

Protected by a slightly domed sapphire crystal, the dial features some of Cartier’s classic traits, like the big XII at twelve and the roman numerals.

We find a subdial at 6 with running seconds, while a little curved window at 3 displays the date allowing it to be read even when covered by the minutes hand.

A SuperLuminova coat is applied to all three hands, indexes on the dial, the number XII and the triangle on the bezel to ease the reading at considerable depths.

The movement is the automatic cal. 1904 C, with 48 hours power reserve.

All these characteristics, paired with a rubber strap with pin buckle, make the Calibre Diver the perfect choice for who’s looking for a professional diver watch with a classic and elegant soul as only a Cartier could be.

Tudor Heritage Chrono Blu

Inspired to the legendary Tudor Montecarlo ref.7169, this Tudor Heritage Chrono Blu is being talked about since 2013, when it was introduced.

Fitted with a 42 mm Oyster case with a perfectly matching steel bracelet with SEL end-links. Supplied with a NATO strap that takes up dial’s colors, making the watch more comfortable and versatile for a sporty use.

The dial is characterized by the “historical” tones of the ref.7169 with orange minutes standing out on the blue disc. The two subdials, one for running seconds and the other for chronograph’s 45-mintes register, are highlighted by the contrast on the cream white dial.

At six, we find the date window without magnifying lens.

The turning bezel has a 12 hours scale, printed on an aluminum insert, that can be used for many purposes, like tracking a second time zone.

The beating heart of this Heritage Blu is the automatic caliber Tudor 1892, an ETA that’s been modified by the Maison, with 42 hours of declared power reserve, kept safe from water by a typical Rolex caseback and screw down chrono pushers. These allow for a 150 mt water resistance, making this watch a perfect chronograph to be used free with no worries, not so common for this complication.

Omega Seamaster 300

When the Seamaster was introduced by Omega, it was for all the professionals working underwater.

After many years it still is a reference point for this field’s fans and for who’s looking for tools of some repute for subaqueous excursions.

This Seamaster 300 is part of the Trilogy Collection 1957, presented in Basel a few years ago, together with a Speedmaster and a Railmaster, to celebrate these models’ 60 years.

Among the three, the Seamaster 300 is the perfect watch to someone searching for something vintage-looking but with high-end technology and versatility.

What makes the difference in this watch, esthetically speaking, is the particular material used for the indexes (vintage SuperLuminova, with a patinated look) that, standing out very well on the black sanded dial, and with the domed sapphire crystal, give this typical vintage feel, proper characteristic of this collection.

On the back, the see-thru caseback allow for the automatic in-house caliber Omega Master Co-axial 8400, adorned with Cotes de Geneve, to be admired. The power reserve is 60 hours, resistance to magnetic fields up to 15.000 Gauss and a water resistance of 300 mt.

Zenith Defy Classic Mykonos Edition

This particular Zenith is a 25-pieces limited edition and will please the taste of who will chose to spend his vacation in Mykonos.

From the collaboration between Zenith and the Greek distributor GOFAS, this particular Defy was born, revealing inside a 41 mm blue ceramic case a skeletonized dial that, together with the case, recalls the Greek flag’s colors.

The caliber is the automatic Zenith Elite, entirely skeletonized, with a 50 hours power reserve.

Water resistance is 100 mt, perfect for a carefree swim, while the real peculiarity are the two straps. The watch comes with a more classic white rubber strap and with a textured blue rubber strap with white sides, that recalls the island pavements.

If you haven’t guessed already, the only place where this new edition can be bought from is of course the GOFAS store in Mykonos, where it will be available with a list price of 7.900€.


Careful to the water resistance!

If you decide to go to the seaside with a watch that’s not listed in this top 5, always remind not to take for granted that it could be used in every situation.

Just remind of this easy chart about the impermeability written on the dial:

  • 30mt: Can handle rain and washing hands
  • 50mt: Can handle a shower
  • 100mt: Can be used to swim and on the beach
  • 200mt or more: Can be used for subaqueous sports
