For over seventy years, Tudor has never ceased to fascinate collectors, and it has done so again today by presenting a new model that is already receiving praise from the watchmaking world.
In fact, the maison presented at Watches and Wonders a new version of its iconic Black Bay GMT that sees the adoption of a brand-new dial with a really interesting and successful opaline color.
Let us now go on to find out all the details of this new watch.
Opaline dial and pepsi bezel

With this new model Tudor is adding to what was already an extensive offering of its GMT watch, and it does so with a color scheme that perfectly matches the house’s iconic hues.
At first glance, what may appear to be a white dial is actually an opaline shade characterized by silver highlights.

What made this shade possible was a galvanic treatment by which the dial acquires a matte white-gray hue.
To create more contrast and read the dial in a clear manner, the hour markers have been darkened at the edges and the hands made with a black outline; the GMT function hand also stands out and has been made in a bright red.

All hands and indexes on the dial are also coated with Super Luminova Grade A luminescent material, which allows excellent readability of the watch even in the dark.
Providing contrast to the opaline quadrane is the burgundy and blue bezel, more commonly known as “pepsi,” above which are the 24-hour markers for the second time zone.
The GMT function

In addition to displaying the date (window at 3 o’clock on the quadrant) and time, this new model from the Swiss maison is capable of indicating a second time zone of your choice thanks to the red “Snowflake” GMT hand.
By means of the latter, it is possible to read the chosen time zone above the bi-directional 24-hour graduated bezel, which shows the 12-hour light in the burgundy part and the 12-hour night in the blue part.
Versatility and durability

Made with a 41 mm diameter 316L satin-finished stainless steel case, the new Black Bay GMT is designed as a durable yet versatile watch.
Creating continuity with the case finish is the satin-finished steel winding crown tube, a first for the Black Bay line.

A truly durable watch that is self-respecting must also possess a high degree of water resistance. In fact, the new Black Bay GMT is water-resistant to 200 m, which is not a given for a watch with this complication.
Powering the watch is the self-winding manufacture caliber MT5652 with integrated GMT function. A feature of this movement, which we have seen before on other models from the house, is what the house refers to as “weekend-proof autonomy,” which is a 70-hour power reserve that allows the watch to be taken off on Friday night and put back on the wrist on Monday without it having stopped.
Another noteworthy aspect is the high precision of -2/+4 per day that is ensured by a variable inertia balance wheel, in addition to the antimagnetic silicon balance spring, and which earned the watch COSC certification.
Like every manufacture caliber made by Tudor, this one features a high level of finishing including the winding rotor with sandblasted details to match the bridges and the plate with sandblasted surfaces alternating with polished parts and laser decoration.
Bracelet and strap

The new Black Bay GMT with opaline dial is complemented by a stainless steel bracelet inspired by the riveted folding bracelets produced by Tudor in the 1950s and 1960s.
Alternatively, the watch can be accompanied by a black fabric strap with a burgundy band that echoes the bezel.
Price
The new Tudor Black Bay GMT with bracelet is sold at a list price of EUR 4,310, and the version with a fabric strap at a price of EUR 4,000.
