Dear friends of IWS, after recently taking you on a tour of reinterpretations of the iconic Jumbostar for Wyler Vetta’s 100th anniversary, today the maison unveils a model that dusts off a mechanical innovation dating back to 1927.
For this celebration, Wyler Vetta has once again chosen to draw inspiration from the historic Jumbostar, in a limited edition, which now sports a brand new dial.
So let us welcome the new Jumbostar Incaflex, a timepiece that we are sure will be a big hit with lovers of the house and beyond.

Once again, the historic brand founded back in 1923 pays tribute to its historical legacy, and this time with a reinterpretation of a mechanical solution that revolutionized the world of watchmaking in 1927.
That year, in fact, brothers Paul and Alfred Wyler, patented the Incaflex balance wheel, through which, for the first time in the history of watchmaking, it was possible to solve the problem of shock resistance of mechanical watch movements.

Thanks to the Incaflex rocker arm, therefore, the reliability and accuracy of the caliber was increased considerably because, the elastic structure of this innovative rocker arm was able to withstand shocks while protecting the movement from accidental blows.
Thanks to this ingenious invention by Wyler Vetta, the fragility of a timepiece, in certain spheres, was beginning to become a distant memory now, allowing anyone who wore a watch equipped with the innovative Incaflex balance wheel a “more carefree” use.
The new Wyler Vetta Jumbostar Incaflex

Today, nearly 100 years after Wyler Vetta’s groundbreaking invention of the Incaflex balance wheel, the house presents a new Jumbostar with chronograph in a limited edition of only 100 pieces, paying tribute to the revolutionary mechanical invention of 1927.
Looking at the watch, what immediately jumps out at you is the stunning black dial encased in the 40mm diameter steel case. The red details and indexes with Super LumiNova C3, give an incredible contrast that, together with the depth of the black, make the new Wyler Vetta Jumbostar Incaflex a timeless vintage look watch.

Anthracite-colored counters, at 3 o’clock the one for continuous seconds and at 9 o’clock the one for chronograph minutes, on the other hand, accentuate the watch’s sporty character. At 12 o’clock, the house’s iconic logo stands out, along with the words “Incaflex,” which is the balance wheel inside the ETA 2894 self-winding movement that brings the new Jumbostar to life.
At 6 o’clock, however, we find the name of the model as well as the inscription “automatic” indicating the type of winding of the movement. Protecting the dial is a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal that gives even more of a vintage yet contemporary look to the new Jumbostar.

On the case, at 10 and 3 o’clock, are the two screw-down crowns for adjusting the rotating flange and for setting the hours, minutes and seconds, respectively. At 14 and 16 o’clock, also on the case, the two chronograph pushers stand out instead.

Turning the watch over, the ETA caliber 2894, specially reworked to evoke the Incaflex balance, can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back. The movement design is accentuated by the black oscillating weight made of PVD steel and relieved by three circular holes.

In reference to the adoption of the Incaflex balance, Beppe Ambrosini, Partner & Senior Advisor at Wyler Vetta, commented in the following words:
“The introduction of the Incaflex balance in a current collection is a way for us to excite enthusiasts who will be able to wear such a significant piece of watchmaking history on their wrist. We have created a unique experience for them that goes beyond pure mechanics by taking care of every detail of the chronograph.”

The design of the new Wyler Vetta Jumbostar Incaflex is complemented by the Tropic Legend 1966 strap manufactured by Seacult, giving this chronograph, water resistant to a depth of 100 meters, a look that is both sporty and vintage.
