As the brand’s own motto “Very rare” says, having the chance to try on H. Moser & Cie. watches (for insiders, just Moser), is not so easy. In fact, in Italy only four realities for the whole country are authorized dealers of the brand: GMT – Great Masters of Time, Hausmann & Co., Verga 1947 and Andrea Concato. A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to stop by and visit our friend Jacopo of GMT – GMT – Great Masters of Time to take a closer look at some of the new watches launched by Moser this year.
Among the gorgeous watches we had the chance to try out I want to tell you about two that particularly caught our attention, and if you will, our hearts as well. I am talking about the new Streamliner Smoked Salmon and the revised version of the already well-known Flyback Chronograph with a blue dial.
Streamliner Smoked Salmon Dial
The first watch the folks at GMT bring us is the Streamliner Smoked Salmon launched this year. We dedicated an entire article to it, which you can read here. For those sticking with me, the Streamliner launched this year is a “warmer” variant of the iconic green dial dubbed “Green Dragon.”
I want to talk about it because in the photos when it was launched, this model did not particularly convince me, partly because I was already particularly fond of the shades of green in its predecessor. Seeing it as a GMT, I completely changed my mind. All the beauty of this watch lies in the new dial, endowed with a warm and enveloping color. All enhanced by the changeability of the reflections given the smoky treatment and griffé finish.
The real game-changer was being able to put this gem on my wrist. The cushion shape of the 40mm case is something I’m crazy about, and the bracelet wraps around the wrist like few others. But the real difference is that salmon-bronze hue that makes everything warmer, more welcoming. It reminded me of the feeling of being by a fireplace, in a mountain cabin.
An Endeavor Perpetual Calendar
After letting us try out other very interesting watches from the Moser house, the folks at GMT showed us another little gem. An Endeavour Perpetual Calendar with a stunning “Grand Feu” enamel dial. Two things absolutely bewitched me about this watch. The essentiality of the dial in the layout of the functions despite being a perpetual calendar, and the mesmerizing three-dimensionality of the enamel on the dial.
Streamliner Flyback Chronograph
Here we come to the last watch they wanted to show us at GMT in Milan: the Moser Streamliner Flyback Chronograph. This watch was launched back in 2020 and this year Moser decided to revisit it by launching it in a 2.0 phase. In fact, almost nothing has changed from the first version of the watch. The case still measures 42.3 mm in diameter and 12.1 in thickness; the dial has the same shade of blue, the hands are the same, and the scales inside the dial are unchanged.
So what has changed?
This is an almost imperceptible but absolutely impactful change. Moser’s logo is no longer white, almost cumbersome, within the already quite rich dial. In fact, the company decided to use a transparent lacquer for the logo, in keeping with its philosophy of putting the product in the foreground over the “brand.” The result is an even more elegant dial, almost exciting I would say.
From the sapphire crystal case back we were also able to admire the stunning HMC 907 caliber, developed by AGENHOR, a partner of H. Moser & Cie, which brings the flyback chronograph to life. Here, too, we could see some innovations over the previous version. The power reserve has been increased to 72 hours, while for aesthetics, new decorations have been added including Côtes de Moser at 45° and a rhodium plating that gives an anthracite gray color to the bridges and plate.
Final Remarks
First of all I would like to thank our friend Jacopo and all the guys at GMT who showed us and let us try these wonderful watches. Although all three watches I presented are extremely fascinating, if I had to choose one personally, I would go for the smoked salmon.
The proportions of the case, combined with the warmth and essentiality of the dial are unbeatable. It must be said, again, that my choice is based mostly on having tried these watches and having found the perfect Center Seconds for my wrist. As a wise collector taught us a few months ago, “every wrist has its perfect watch” you just have to find it by trying as many as you can!
